Three members of the City Council in Bridge City were sworn in Tuesday night.  Tammi Fisette and Terri Gauthier both start their second terms on the council in Places 3 and 5 respectively.  In Place 1 Carl Harbert won the election held earlier in May.

Harbert replaces Kevin Mott who did not seek re-election this year.  Mott was thanked for his years of service with Bridge City.  Tammi Fisette was selected to be the Mayor Pro-Tem for the next year on the City Council.  Eric Andrus was chosen to be the council’s liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

City Manager Jerry Jones had some good news regarding the water filters that have been installed in two of the three wells in the city.  He informed the council that the break-in period for the filters is complete and they are now operational.  Bridge City hopes to hear from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality this week to receive permission to proceed with installing the filter in the Romero well which has recently been reconstructed.

This week the Water Department will begin flushing the lines to remove the iron and manganese that is already in the water lines.  Beginning Thursday at midnight the line from the well on Rachal near the City Hall will be the first section to be flushed.  Jones advised, “We’ll announce where we’re going each time.  We’ve got it on the internet and I’m going to get it on the radio station (KOGT) and some other things so we’ll try to keep everybody informed.”

The playground equipment in the City Park has been removed.  The City Council approved purchasing new equipment from AAA State of Play.
