Employees at a convenience store on FM 1130 found an illegal credit card skimmer on a pump Wednesday and called Orange police.
Officer T.P. Pruitt reported the pumps had been checked on Tuesday evening. When they were checked about 4 p.m. Wednesday, an employee discovered Pump 7 appeared to have been tampered. He got the key and opened the pump, he discovered an electronic device that steals credit card information had been installed.
Officer Pruitt confiscated the device and detectives are investigating. Late last year, consumers in Orange County had been plagued with thieves charging items with credit or debit card information stolen from the skimmers on gas pumps and DVD machines.
