26-year-old Jarondrick Dacole Jones from Orange was arrested Monday for negligent homicide at a Lake Charles hotel. Lake Charles police report witnesses said Jones was stopping the victim from beating his wife.
Police were called to the Richmond Suites Hotel in Lake Charles at 1:15 Monday morning and found the body of 46-year-old Joseph Oglesby. Oglesby’s wife had been beaten in her face and showed severe bruising and swelling.
According to police, Jones was staying in a nearby hotel room. He went to the Oglesbys’ room because of the fighting. He grabbed Joseph Oglesby around the neck and Oglesby’s wife was then able to run out of the room. A five-minute struggle between Jones and Oglesby left Oglesby dead.
Police said Jones and Oglesby had gotten into an argument several hours earlier. Jones’ bond was set at $2,000.
