31-year-old Michelle Leann Burch of Orange had to be taken by medical helicopter Tuesday night after her car left the roadway on FM 3247 and hit a tree.
The crash was about 9:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of FM 3247 near Rosewood Drive, east of Highway 87. Officer S.J. Mulhollan reported she was driving a Chevrolet Equinox eastbound and for an unknown reason, began swerving from lane to lane. After going into the opposite lane of traffic, she over-corrected. The SUV then went back into the eastbound lane and off the roadway, where it crashed into a tree.
Captain Keith Longlois said the Orange Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance treated the woman at the scene. She was transported to the band practice field at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School so the medical helicopter could land. She was then flown to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
