A teenager was arrested Thursday night for unlawfully carrying a pistol after people called Orange police to report he had been firing the weapon into the air near 10th and Burton.
Officer L.A. Lovelace reported the 19-year-old male had loaded 9mm pistol in the front pocket of shorts that he was wearing underneath his jeans. The teen was arrested about 8:25 p.m. in the 2000 block of Norwood Drive.
Officer Lovelace said the youth had been described as walking around without wearing shirt and carrying the pistol. When the officer went to 10th and Burton, a passerby told him the teen with the gun had walked to the Clairmont subdivision and that’s where he was found.
Police said the pistol had seven full metal jacket 9 mm rounds and one in the chamber. The teen did not have a criminal record, but he is too young to hold a concealed handgun license.
