A woman was beaten with a large metal flashlight by a man she knows. She told Orange police the two had gotten into an argument and he hit her because she wouldn’t leave fast enough.
Officer S.J. Mulhollan reported he was driving on Park Avenue by 10th Street about 8:30 Tuesday night when people in a pickup truck flagged him down. A woman in the truck had blood on her face and legs. She had a cut above her left eye with swelling and bruising developing. Her wrist was also swollen.
The woman told the officer she was visiting at a house on John Avenue when she got into an argument with the man in the house. He took the flashlight and hit her. She called relatives, who picked her up and were driving to the police station when they saw the officer.
The woman was taken to the Southeast Texas Medical Center in Port Arthur for treatment.
A woman living at the Park Avenue Manor told Orange police early Tuesday morning that someone broke into her apartment.
A Miami, Florida, man was given a ticket for failure to control speed Tuesday night after he missed an on-ramp to Interstate 10. Officer D.Y. Meyers reported the 27-year-old man and a 27-year-old male passenger were traveling westbound in the 3000 block of North Lutcher Drive about 9:20 p.m.
They were in a Toyota Rav4. The SUV missed the on-ramp and went off the roadway. The vehicle then went back onto Lutcher Drive and hit a GMC Sierra that was traveling in the outside westbound lane. The driver of the Sierra was a 34-year-old Austin man. No injuries were reported in the collision.
