NEWTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT 02/12/2018
by Sheriff Billy Rowles
Do you think the sun will ever pop out. I’m starting to wonder. We have been bowed up. Let’s see what’s been going on.
We had a tank fire down in the Deweyville area. Lighting struck one of the tanks and 9 tanks went up in flames. No injuries. It was so good to watch 6 or 7 Fire Departments working together. No ego’s, just get er done. Good job to all involved.
Received a call about a break in where several guns were stolen. We stayed in contact with several pawn shops and would you believe he hocked four of them. We recovered two more and still need the last two. We’re working on that.
Received a call from a man who was notified that he won the publishers clearing house cash prize. He was smart enough to not fall for it. Good job Mr. T.W. Clark. You the man. Please be smart when it comes to these kind of scams. Any questions, call us. I told Mr. Clark to tell them to call his Sheriff because he was his accountant.
We received a call from a wife who said her husband went fishing and has not returned. Text messages not returned. Turned out he was at girlfriend’s house. She forgot to tell us they had been separated two weeks.
Got to go. Court this morning. Thought for the week. The more you weigh, the harder you are to kidnap. Stay safe and eat more cake. Ya’ll have a great week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
