Friday at 5 p.m. is the deadline to file as a candidate for city, school board and special district elections, which will be held on May 5. Even offices that are not usually open at that time will stay open until 5 p.m.
Orangefield and Deweyville school districts have board elections in November and they are not included.
Filings as of Thursday afternoon are:
Orange City Council
Mayor: Larry Spears Jr. and Charles Ray Thomas (incumbent Jimmy Sims has not filed)
Single-Member District 1: Incumbent Pat Pullen (candidates must live within the boundaries of the district on the western side of the city)
At-Large Position 6: Paul Burch (the seat is currently held by Larry Spears, who has to give it up to run for mayor)
Bridge City City Council
Mayor: Incumbent David Rutledge
Place 2: Incumbent Kirk Roccaforte
Place 4: Incumbent Eric Andrus
Place 6: Incumbent Lucy Fields and Joseph Hannan
Pinehurst City Council
Mayor: Incumbent Pete Runnels
Two at-large positions: John Zerko. (Incumbent Cynthia Adams has not filed)
West Orange City Council
Three at-large positions: Incumbents Shirley Bonnin, Dale Dardeau and Mike Shugart
