Full Moon Kept Police Busy

A man accused of breaking into an apartment and attacking a woman had to get medical care after neighbors coming to the rescue stopped him and he fought back.

32-year-old Anthony Galloway was arrested is facing a charge of burglary.

Orange police went to Park Avenue Manor, 2540 Park Avenue, at 8:14 a.m. Saturday. A woman said she was sweeping her floor when a shirtless man she did not know forced his way into her apartment and starting hitting her. He also hit her with the broom and tried to choke her with his hands.

The woman’s screams brought neighbors to help. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the man “vigorously resisted” and the neighbors had to use force to restrain him for police. The patrol officer reported the man was taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas to be treated before going to the Orange County Jail.

 

 

A 47-year-old white man is facing charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct after trying to use his car to hit a black man and then yelling a racial epithet at the man in front of a police officer.

Orange police report Tommy Madden Jr. of Orange was arrested Friday night in the 2500 block of North Eighth Street in the Brownwood area. Police were called to the street at 10:49 p.m. Friday. A man who had been walking said a man in a blue Chevrolet Geo kept swerving in front of him like he was trying to hit him.

The car was also described as having no back window with fishing poles hanging out the back. The patrol officer reported he was standing talking to the man who had been walking when the Geo drove past. The driver yelled a racial epithet at the man who had been walking. Police then stopped and arrested him.

 

A shoplifter stealing items from Tractor Supply is facing a robbery charge because he used a crowbar he picked up to threaten the store manager. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the manager had tried to stop the thief, but backed away when threatened.

The robbery was at 11:19 a.m. Sunday at the store, 2020 Interstate 10. Enmon said the thief drove away on the service road in a Chevrolet Tahoe. Detectives are trying to identify him to make an arrest.

 

 

Someone tore out the steering housing and removed the ignition of a 2005 Dodge minivan parked at a house in the 2200 block of International Drive. Police went to the house about 4 a.m. Friday and discovered the damage. The door lock had also been damaged. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the break-in was an attempt to steal the minivan.

Two burglaries of vehicles were reported to Orange police during the weekend. One was at 12:44 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of Knox Avenue in Navy Park. The other was reported about 4 Sunday afternoon in the 1600 block of Georgia Street in the Cove neighborhood.

 

 

Thanks to kogt.com readers, Orange police were able to identify the person who grabbed two bottles of liquor from a shelf in Red’s Liquors and ran out. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said a teenage boy was identified and given a ticket for Class C misdemeanor theft of less than $100 value.
