Drainage Hotline Coming Soon

In the weeks since the Orange County Commissioners Court sponsored two workshops on drainage issues in the county work has been on going to clean, clear, and dig ditches for better drainage.  The work has been done countywide by multiple agencies.

The Orange County Drainage District may be leading the attack on the drainage ditches, but County Judge Dean Crooks stated the county’s Road and Bridge Department has been working overtime to improve the drainage.  He pointed out TxDOT and all the municipalities are doing their part as well.

Crooks indicated that soon citizens will have a phone number to call to report ditches that need attention.  The drainage hotline will be like 911 except to report drainage problems anywhere in the county.  “It won’t cost anything to call, you’ll be able to leave your information, and it will go to everybody,” Crooks summarized.

The judge is hoping the drainage hotline will be available within a week or two.  It will probably setup at the Road and Bridge office on FM 1442, but will be available to the Drainage District, TxDOT, and all the municipalities in the county.
