Orange police Tuesday night arrested two men in connection with suspected illegal gambling with eight-liner games at three convenience stores.

Police had search warrants and, with Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies, raided the stores at 6:30 p.m. The stores were at 3118 Edgar Brown Drive across from Wal-Mart, along with 1402 and 1415 16th Street, the same block was Walgreen’s.

Police Detective Captain Robert Enmon said Milkha Singh was arrested for organized criminal activity gambling. Gambling is a Class A misdemeanor, but the Texas Penal Code allows it to be enhanced to a felony if it is in connection with an organized activity.

Also, Moez Babubhai Maknojiya was arrested for gambling promotion. The charge is a Class A misdemeanor that carries a maximum punishment of a year in county jail with a fine of $4,000.

Police confiscated eight-liner machines, which are similar to casino slot machines, along with other equipment from the stores. Texas law allows eight-liners to be used for entertainment, but giving cash prizes is illegal gambling.

Police Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the raids came after a long investigation.
