Printpack Incorporated, based in Atlanta, has announced that it will be closing its plant in Orange at the end of 2019.
Printpack is a packaging company specializing in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and agricultural industries. They’ve been in Orange since 1996 when they purchased the James River packaging business. Originally the plant opened in 1959 under the name Crown Zellerbach.
“Decisions like this that negatively impact the lives and livelihoods of any of our associates are never easy to make, and this decision is in no way a reflection of our capable and dedicated associates in Orange,” CEO Jimmy Love said in a statement. “Market realities force us to continue to improve our cost positions in order to sustain our business over the long term, and we are limited in how many production assets we can support in our film making platform.”
The Orange plant employees approximately 87 people. Some will be offered positions at other Printpack locations.
