Three vehicle thefts were reported to Orange police during the weekend. One stolen from Chasse Gardens Drive was found in the Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School parking lot by the owner using a phone app.
The first theft was reported at 5:39 a.m. Friday at Devall Towing, 2011 DuPont Drive. An employee reported he had left his black 2014 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup truck parked inside the 10-bay storage building on the property. When he arrived Friday morning, the truck was missing.
Two vehicles inside the storage building had been damaged by someone attempting to get inside. Plus, a load of cut firewood was missing from the bed of a Toyota Tacoma pickup.
Saturday morning at 8, police went to the 6300 block of Chasse Gardens. A resident said his wife’s 2018 Volkswagen Atlas was missing from the driveway. He noticed it was gone when he opened the garage door. She had a phone app that tracked the SUV to the high school parking lot.
The third missing vehicle was reported Saturday afternoon at 2:20 in the Old Orange Historic District. A resident told police he loaned his red GMC Sierra pickup truck to his son. His son laid down on a couch to take a nap with the keys next to him. When he woke up, the keys were gone and the truck was missing from the 1100 block of Orange Avenue.
A 79-year-old Beaumont man was given a traffic ticket for unsafe lane change after the large pickup truck clipped the front of a vehicle driven by an Orange County state district judge.
The accident was at 10 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Simmons Drive near John Avenue.
Orange police report that a Chevrolet Silverado C1500 driven by Fred Buchanan Parsons III of Beaumont was traveling southbound on Simmons in the inside lane.
State District Judge Dennis Powell of Orange was driving a Nissan Murano southbound in the outside lane.
The Silverado made a lane change to the right and the back of the truck hit the front driver’s side of the judge’s vehicle. No injuries were reported, but the judge’s car had to be towed away.
