Sales Tax Down For February

Sales across Orange County continue a slow drop from the same time last year as reconstruction after Hurricane Harvey is dwindling. The entities collecting sales taxes continued to see drops in sales during February, compared to February of 2018.

The Texas Comptroller’s Office has sent the February tax payments to the entities. Pinehurst and Vidor saw increases in sales for the month, but are still down overall for the year to date.

The sales taxes are:

Bridge City (1.5 percent tax): $115,026 for the month and $127,958 for the same month last year, a decrease of 10.10 percent. $531,345 for the year to date and $587,963 for the year to date in 2018, a decrease of 9.62 percent.

Orange (1.5 percent tax): $361,425 for the month and $425,751 for the same month last year, a decrease of 15.10 percent. $1.6 million for the year to date and $1.833 million for the year to date in 2018, a decrease of 12.65 percent.

Pinehurst (1.5 percent tax): $60,125 for the month and $52,525 for the same month last year, an increase of 14.46 percent. $232,463 for the year to date and $234,087 for the year to date in 2018, a decrease of 0.69 percent.

Vidor (1.5 percent tax): $233,070 for the month and $212,733 for the same month last year, an increase of 9.55 percent. $989,025 for the year to date and $993,752 for the year to date in 2018, a decrease of 0.47.

West Orange (1.25 percent tax): $84,467 for the month and $91,467 for the same month last year, a decrease of 7.65 percent. $391,269 for the year to date and $438,070 for the year to date in 2018, a decrease of 10.68 percent.

Orange County (0.5 percent tax): $383,735 for the month and $418,173 for the same month last year, a decrease of 8.23 percent. $1.723 million for the year to date and $1.8 million for the year to date in 2018, a decrease of 4.68 percent.

Orange County Emergency Services District 3 Little Cypress (1.5 percent tax):  $11,439 for the month and $12,017 for the same month last year, a decrease of 4.8 percent. $58,408 for the year to date and $64,058 for the year to date in 2018, a decrease of 8.82 percent.
