Two eighteen year olds from Orange County have been arrested and charged with the theft of numerous items from homes and camps around the southern end of Toledo Bend Reservoir.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Department arrested Zackery Alford and Gaven Butler, both from Vidor. They are currently jailed under a bond of $40,000 each.
According to our partners at KJAS Radio, the pair stole several vehicles and boats, high-dollar rods & reels, several wallets, three go-carts, two firearms and a knife, a small boat and boat motor, and other items.
A Mercury boat motor and a go cart that was stolen were found in the lake. Several items reported stolen, including a firearm, have not been located.
According to Chief Deputy Cynthia Hall, each suspect was charged with two counts of class A misdemeanor theft, and one count of felony theft.
