An OnStar locator helped Orange police recover an SUV stolen from a local hotel from a family living there because of Imelda flood damage to their house.
A Nederland police officer recovered the vehicle and arrested two people after OnStar reported the vehicle was traveling on Highway 365 Wednesday morning, according to Orange police.
Orange police went to the Studio 6 Hotel on Highway 62 South at 7 a.m. Wednesday after the vehicle’s owner called. The man said he and his family were staying the hotel after the September flood.
The man said he had accidentally left the 2018 GMC Acadia unlocked after going to a store Tuesday night. The keys had been in the center console.
Orange police were able to get the OnStar to report where the vehicle was.
