Game wardens rescued a Deweyville couples with their four-year-old daughter Sunday on Lake Sam Rayburn. The family was boating when they got lost in fog and ran out of gas.
KJAS.com in Jasper reports Game Wardens Justin Eddins and Brooke Yeates found the family and got them to safety after they had been on the water more than 18 hours.
The family is Dominique and Melody Adolph, along with daughter, Henley. Mrs. Adolph is pregnant.
The Adolphs had been at Twin Dikes on Saturday afternoon and launched for a quick boat ride. Fog formed and the family accidentally went 14 miles in the wrong direction before running out of gas.
Their cell phones could not find service for them to call for help. Mr. Adolph tried to use a trolling motor to get to shore, but the battery died. The family drifted in the foggy dark for hours.
About mid-day Sunday, they found a place where their cell phones would work. They were able to get a GPS location to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the wardens helped them get back.
