On November 23, 2019, at 3:57 P.M., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Robin Avenue, in reference to an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, officers met with family and neighbors who were tending to a six year old child who family members had found unresponsive in their pool.
Officer D.Y. Myers was the first emergency responder on scene and immediately began taking life-saving measures. Officer Myers continued those measures, voiding water from the child’s lungs, until he was relieved by Orange Fire Department personnel.
Police and Fire personnel were able to void the water, obtain a pulse and the child began breathing. The child was turned over to Acadian Ambulance Service personnel, who took over measures and transported the child to a local hospital. There is no further information on the condition of the child at this time.
