It’s official. Starbucks now has permits for a $1.1 million building on 16th Street at Interstate 10 by the Chick-fil-A that is under construction.
The city of Orange issued two permits on January 30 to Brazos Contractors of Houston. One permit is for the exterior shell valued at $400,000, and the other is for the interior valued at $707,719. The owner is Jadco Partners Ltd.
The site is where the Texas Department of Transportation has extended the eastbound frontage road across the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The city of Orange has been working on getting the frontage road and development for more than two decades.
The city’s Economic Development Corporation has paid for moving water and sewer lines, plus removing an old gas station-store with the gas tanks.
The Chick-fil-A store is valued at $925,000 and the building permit was issued in November.
Also, a new Taco Bell restaurant valued at $925,000 is under construction at the Eagle Point development off Interstate 10 at Highway 62. The city’s EDC has also helped in development in that area.
The city of West Orange has a KFC restaurant under construction on MacArthur Drive.
