People spent money in Orange County during December, according to collected sales taxes. All entities with the tax had increases from December of 2018. The city of West Orange, which has a Walmart, had the smallest increases with sales taxes almost stagnant.
The Texas Comptroller’s Office has sent the following payments to the entities and calculated the increases.
Bridge City (1.5 percent tax): $200,825 for the month, a 22.1 percent increase from December 2018. $340,784 for the year to date, a 15.52 percent increase from last year.
Orange (1.5 percent tax): $545,320 for the month, a 7.96 percent increase from December 2018. $951,292 for the year to date, a 9.07 percent increase from last year.
Pinehurst (1.5 percent tax): $83,698 for the month, a 16.71 percent increase from December 2018. $140,026 for the year to date, a 13.73 percent increase from last year.
Vidor (1.5 percent tax): $355,977 for the month, an 18.83 percent increase from December 2018. $629,701 for the year to date, an increase of 15.08 percent from last year.
West Orange (1.25 percent tax): $131,316 for the month, a 2.04 percent increase from December 2018. $229,467 for the year to date, a 1.01 percent increase from last year.
Orange County (0.5 percent tax): $598,645 for the month, a 23.14 percent increase from December 2018. $1.05 million for the year to date, an increase of 11.48 percent from last year.
Orange County ESD 3 Little Cypress Fire Department (1.5 percent tax): $23,220 for the month, an increase of 29.11 percent from December 2018. $40,585 for the year to date, an increase of 16.94 percent from last year.
