Newton Co Sheriff’s Report

by Sheriff Billy Rowles

Hope everyone had a good week. Please remember the Brooks family in your prayers. We’re gonna miss Jerry. Let’s see what’s been going on.

We have put some security regulations in effect here at the Newton Co. courthouse. Please read the signs as you enter. They should be up in a couple of days.

We received a report of a 4-wheeler and a dirt bike being stolen in the Bleakwood area. Any help would be appreciated.

Received a report of a loose mule in the Farrsville area. We had to call Willie Barrow (our stock officer) to see if he could catch the mule. Didn’t work, mule hit the woods. Maybe next time.

Man reported a neighbor stole his drill. He went to get it back and the neighbor made him leave. Three sides to every story. My side, your side and what really happened.

A sister called and said her brother tried to run over her and then attacked her. No charges filed. Settled by separation. Lots of calls lately with this family.

A man called and said that two men pulled a gun on him when he went to a female friends’ house. When we made contact with him, he didn’t want to file charges. Wonder what is the rest of the story?

Gotta go. Thought for the week: I thought getting old would take longer! Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.

Changes in security at courthouse:

Due to all the crazy things happening in public buildings around the country, I feel it necessary to have the following security regulations in place to protect our citizens. So sorry for the inconvenience.

During ANY court hearing, no one will be allowed to enter the Court Room with anything but their keys and any medical devices such as diabetes kits but shall be subjected to being searched.

For casual visits to the Court House, District Clerks Office, Treasures Office, etc. You can bring your personal belongings but may be subjected to being searched.

This is a public place where we here at Newton County want you to feel safe. Please follow all rules and expectations.
