Body remains were found Saturday afternoon in a creek bottom about 11 miles north of Deweyville in Newton County.
Newton County Sheriff Billy Rowles said in a release he thinks the remains are of a man reported missing recently seen in Cameron, La. The sheriff said a vehicle connected with the missing man was found a week ago about a half mile from where the body was discovered.
The creek is about a half mile east of Highway 87 north of Deweyville.
Rowles said the Deweyville Volunteer Fire Department helped remove the body, which has been take to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy.
