Galveston County will close the beaches on Bolivar Peninsula to residents and visitors beginning Friday, April 10 and the closure will last until April 17 with the possibility of being extended if warranted.
The order applies to both residents and visitors and covers the peninsula’s 27 miles of beaches.
The closures are said to be a way to keep people from gathering during the Easter Weekend during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The order was fueled after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced the closure of Texas state parks and monuments.
The city of Galveston closed its beaches to residents and tourists at the end of March.
