Grady Gray, a former chief for the Pinehurst Volunteer Fire Department, was indicted Wednesday on a felony charge of indecency with a child by touching. He was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail. He is now released on a $15,000 bond.
District Attorney John Kimbrough said the West Orange Police Department investigated the case and presented it to the grand jury. He said the victim was a child under the age of 17. The case has been assigned to Judge Courtney Arkeen in the 128th District Court.
The punishment of the felony is from five to 20 years in state prison.
The 44-year-old Gray was once the building and code enforcement officer for the city of Pinehurst, where he also served as the chief of the fire department there.
