Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood received a pay hike Tuesday night.  The City Council following a closed session approved a $6,000 pay raise for Hood who has served as the city administrator since April of 2015.  Mayor Pete Runnels indicated the pay increase is reflective of the outstanding job done by Hood and the positive evaluation he received in June.  It was recommended at that time of the evaluation the salary adjustment should coincide with the approval of next year’s budget.

The Pinehurst City Council approved the city’s budget and tax rate for next year during the meeting Tuesday night.  There was no change in the previous year’s tax rate of 69.799 cents per 100 dollars value for next year.

The City of Pinehurst Tuesday night recognized all local law enforcement officers, fire fighters, and dispatchers as part of a remembrance of the sacrifices made by first responders during the attacks on September 11 fifteen years ago.  Everyone attending was handed an American flag and each first responder at the Pinehurst City Council meeting was applauded by those in attendance.

During the meeting the council approved the new contract between the city and the Pinehurst Police Officers’ Association.  Both parties spoke and said the negotiations went very good.  The police officers received a three percent pay increase under the terms of the new contract.  Pinehurst will also provide armored vests for all the officers’ safety.
