The 32-year-old man who was hit by a train early Saturday morning has been identified as Silas Hayes. Orange police spokesman Captain Robert Enmon said the Beaumont hospital has not notified the department of his condition. Union Pacific Railroad employees called police at 1:06 a.m. Saturday to say a crew thought their train hit a man. Police said Silas was found in a ditch on the west side of the railroad tracks in the 1200 block of Cherry Avenue. Hayes’s address was listed as a house on Cherry next to the tracks.

Two more cases of fraudulent use of debit cards were reported to Orange police Monday. One woman said she used her bank card Friday, October 28, at a convenience store gas pump on FM 1130. On Wednesday November 2, she tried to use the card and it was declined because the money had been removed. She decided to contact police after reading reports of skimmers being placed gas pumps. The skimmers steal debit or credit card information so thieves have access to the accounts. A patrol officer did not give details on the second case reported. The woman lives on Beagle Drive off FM 1130. Detective Captain Robert Enmon has said police found three skimmers on gas pumps and all were at stores north of Interstate 10.
