Orange Police Reports

A person living in the Ridgemont subdivision shot and killed two dogs Sunday morning. The two dogs running at large had killed a smaller dog, according to Detective Captain Robert Enmon.

Police were called at 8:48 a.m. Sunday to the 3600 block of Hemlock Lane. Captain Enmon said the two large dogs, reported as a pit bull and a boxer, attacked a killed a small dog. A neighbor came outside and tried to prevent the large dogs from attacking another small dog. Captain Enmon said no police action was taken. The Orange Animal Control Department is investigating the incident.

Burglaries and thefts reported to Orange police during the weekend included a package stolen from a porch. Police went to the 200 block of Bridal Wreath in the Roselawn subdivision at 8:37 p.m. Friday after a homeowner said the delivered package was missing. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said a video surveillance recorded the theft, but no one was arrested. The value of the package makes the crime a Class C misdemeanor.

A man living in the 400 block of Cypress Avenue in the Old Orange Historic District called police Friday morning at 9:51 to report stolen handguns. The man said he kept the guns in a small box under a coffee table in the living room. A black .38 caliber special and a .22 caliber Derringer-style pistol were missing.

A resident in the 500 block of DuPont Drive in the Cove neighborhood had a break-in Friday with a 40-inch Sony TV stolen. The resident said he left the house at 11 a.m. and when he returned about 4:30 p.m., he noticed that his front door had been damaged. The TV was stolen from inside after the burglar broke through the door.
