Orange police said a 21-year-old man arrested on a probation violation warrant got a hand out of a handcuff and ran away Saturday afternoon.
Jecovin Provost has an Orange address and was arrested on two warrants from Jefferson County. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said he was found hiding in an apartment at the Park Avenue Manor in the 2500 block of Park Avenue. Captain Enmon said officers found a handgun reported stolen from Orange County inside the apartment, but Provost did not have the gun when he was arrested.
After the police officer arrested the man, he managed to get one hand free from the handcuff and he ran away. Officers searched the area but could not find him.
Provost is black, 6-feet tall and weighs about 185 pounds. Anyone with information about where he is should contact the Orange Police Department at 883-1026.
