Blue Beacon commercial truck wash is adding a $2 million building to Orange. The company had the largest building permit issued by the city during December. The truck wash is being built off Interstate 10 at Highway 62.
The city itself took out a permit for $43,800 in the commercial concrete category. The city had Allied Mechanical lay the concrete for the new skate park pad at Sunset Park on 16th Street. The equipment has not been installed. The city is using federal community development block grants to pay for the park.
The Blue Beacon building will be 10,500 square feet. The city last year annexed the property at the request of the property owners. The City of Orange Economic Development Corporation is providing $11,630 for infrastructure work for the new business.
Permits for a $15,000 HVAC system and a fire alarm system went to the Orange Train Depot. The non-profit Friends of the Orange Depot have raised money for the restoration of the century-old Southern Pacific depot in downtown.
The Dickey’s Barbecue under construction at 2327 Lutcher Drive received a permit for a $7,500 Vent-a-Hood system.
The new Brick and Barley bar at the motel at 2614 Interstate 10 had a permit to install a $2,500 walk-in cooler.
In a commercial remodeling, the owner of property at 601 Fourth Street got a permit for $7,500 worth of inside work plus a $2,225 re-roof.
Four permits for a total of $14,650 were issued for residential storage buildings. Two houses got new roofs for a total of $7,522. In addition, two permits for residential fences totaled $4,200.
Demolition permits went to take down dilapidated buildings at 3406 Bob Hall Road and a fire damaged house on Bancroft Road. Also the city got permits to demolish houses at 1111 10th Street and 2408 Third Street.
