Orange police arrested a 43-year-old woman for misdemeanor public intoxication after she was seen trying to break the glass door and window of a business on Park Avenue Wednesday night.

Officer S.J. Mulhollan reported he went to the Park Avenue Service Station, 409 West Park Avenue, at 11:11 p.m. after someone called police about a possible break-in. The officer said he saw a woman holding a metal ashtray and hitting the door and window. The glass front door had a crack about 30 inches long.

He said the woman smelled of alcohol. After he couldn’t reach the owner or manager of the station to see if they wanted to file charges, the officer arrested the woman and took her to the Orange County Jail. Essie Bell Potts of Orange faces the Class C misdemeanor of public intoxication.
