Sales Tax Numbers

Sales tax collections across Orange County in the month of May were stagnant or a little lower than the same time in 2016. Orange County is down nearly 11 percent for collections in the first five months of the year.

The city of Orange is up for the year through May, while Bridge City, West Orange, Pinehurst and Vidor have slight decreases in the year to date. Pinehurst had an increase in sales taxes for May, compared to May last year.

The Texas Comptroller’s Office has sent the sales reimbursements to the entities and has reported the income. The figures are:

Orange County (0.5 percent sales tax): $404,432 for the month and $2.54 million for the year to date, a decrease of 11 percent from 2016.

Bridge City (1.5 percent sales tax):  $24,683 for the month and $201,250 for the year to date, a 4.5 percent decrease from 2016.

Orange (1.5 percent sales tax): $379,939 for the month and $2.57 million for the year to date, an increase of 11.3 percent from 2016.

Pinehurst (1.5 percent sales tax): $50,650 for the month and $364,860 for the year to date, a decrease of 2.1 percent from 2016.

Vidor (1.5 percent sales tax): $230,024 for the month and $1.48 million for the year to date, a 5.8 percent decrease from 2016.

West Orange (1.25 percent sales tax):  $91,060 for the month and $678,314 for the year to date, a 0.7 percent decrease from 2016.

Orange County Emergency Services District 3 (Little Cypress Fire wtih 1.5 percent sales tax): $14,010 for the month and $105,000 for the year to date.
