At approximately 11:00a.m. Friday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash in the westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10, near FM 1136, in Orange County.
After DPS Troopers arrived on scene, the incident was actually three separate motor vehicle crashes that occurred in a short period of time.
The initial crash involved two motor vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 and began to slow down due to traffic congestion. As the Chevrolet pickup truck slowed to a stop, it was rear-ended by a Nissan passenger vehicle.
After the initial crash, a white Chevrolet pickup truck and a Chevrolet Tahoe stopped to avoid the first collision. The driver of a Dodge pickup truck failed to control speed and rear-ended the Chevrolet Tahoe. The impact of that collision caused the Tahoe to rear-end the white Chevrolet pickup truck.
Immediately following the second crash, the disabled Dodge pickup truck was rear-ended by a Jeep SUV.
There were no reported injuries sustained in the three separate motor vehicle crashes.
The driver of the Nissan passenger vehicle, 44-year-old Larry Holmes of Houston, was issued a citation for failure to control speed.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, Jonathan Degueyter, 47, of Louisiana, was issued a citation for failure to control speed.
The driver of the Jeep, 27-year-old Sabino Chavez of Mexico, was also issued a citation for failure to control speed.
