A 35-year-old Bridge City man was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont Thursday after an 18-wheel rig changed lanes and ran his motorcycle off the Interstate 10 feeder road, according to Orange police.

The crash was reported at 5 p.m. near the interstate intersection with Highway 62.

Police said Darrell Glenn Charrier Jr. was driving a Honda motorcycle and had exited the interstate. The cycle was traveling in the outside lane of the feeder road.

A truck-trailer rig driven by a Bartlesville, Oklahoma, man, was also on the feeder road and changed lanes to the outside. The move forced the motorcycle to crash into a grassy area off the roadway. Police cited the truck driver for unsafe lane change.

Batteries, tires and wheels were stolen from cars parked overnight Tuesday at MP Auto, 302 First Street. Police said two tires and wheels were taken off a Buick Regal. In addition, batteries were taken from a Nissan Murano and a Nissan Altima.

In addition, police are investigating a burglary at a house in the 1000 block of Pine Avenue in the Old Orange Historic District. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the homeowner told police a neighbor had seen a man go into his garage. Yard equipment and tools were stolen. The burglary was reported Monday. Also that day, a burglary was reported in the 100 block of Campus Street in the Cove neighborhood.
