Orange Police Weekend Reports

Two vehicles were reported stolen from residences in Orange during the weekend. Police went at 1:13 a.m. Friday to a vehicle stolen from a house in the 400 block of Moreell Street in the Navy Park neighborhood. The owner said she left the keys inside the vehicle.

On Sunday morning at 7:25, police were called to a house in the 100 block of West New Jersey Street in the Cove area. A man reported hs 2002 black Chevrolet Avalance pickup truck was stolen from his driveway. The man had locked the truck and taken the keys inside.

Also during the weekend, police investigated a case of domestic violence that later developed into a theft of a firearm and phone. Officers went to Elm Avenue Friday night. A woman said earlier in the morning, the man who is the father of her unborn child hit her in the face. She told police the man later came back and took the gun and her phone.

A man was arrested for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated as he was swerving across Sunset Drive early Saturday morning. Officer M.T. Roush reported he was dispatched after a complaint to Sunset at 1 a.m. He saw a Ford F-150 pickup with Louisiana license plate traveling about 5 mph and going from the left side to the right side of the road. The truck pulled over at Sunset Oak Street and police stopped it.

Officer Roush said the driver was alone and could barely get out of the truck. He had to hold onto the side of the truck as he walked. The officer reported he could smell alcohol on the man from three to six feet away. At one point, the man fell onto the grass of a yard.

According to police, Acadian Ambulance took the man to Southeast Texas Medical Center in Port Arthur where he was treated. A blood sample was also taken at the hospital.
