The Orange City Council will vote Tuesday to cancel the special election for at-large Position 6 on the council because businessman Paul Burch was the only person to file for the spot.
The special election was called to fill the unexpired two years on the term of Larry Spears Jr., who has held the position. Spears is running against Pastor Charles Ray Thomas for mayor in the May 5 election.
The city council will meet at 9 Tuesday morning in the council auditorium.
Other business includes deciding whether to waive the fee for building permits to repair damage from Tropical Storm Harvey.
The council has twice granted 90 day exemptions for the building permits related to the flood. The last extension ends today.
In addition, the council will vote to allow the Orange County Mosquito Control plane to fly at low altitudes in the city to disperse insecticide.
