Deweyville ISD Superintendent Keith Jones is collecting letters from people who want to try to get the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to try to change rules for water releases at Toledo Bend Reservoir.
Jones sent word to Deweyville residents who live downstream from the dam. He said U.S. Representative Brian Babin has offered to deliver the letters to the federal agency.
The letters will be collected through the school district until January 25. Jones said the letters the school district handles must be in good taste and not include profanity or insults.
The federal commission, called FERC, sets the rules for the Sabine River Authority to release water from the spillway gates.
