Two local lawyers, Krispen Walker and Rex Peveto, have publicly announced they will run for the position of 163rd State District Judge in the 2020 election. Current Judge Dennis Powell has said he is retiring at the end of his current four-year term.
Walker is a longtime assistant district attorney and is assigned to the 163rd District Court.
Peveto, of the Peveto Law Firm, is also a member of the Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD board of trustees.
Both are running as Republicans. The party primaries will be in March 2020 with the general election in November 2020.
