At approximately 1:00a.m. Sunday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on CR 120 in Jasper County. The crash occurred approximately five miles west of Jasper.
Initial reports indicate that a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling southbound on CR 120. For an unknown reason, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the vehicle, 17-year-old Jarvis Samuel Wilson of Jasper, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.
One of the passengers, a 15-year-old male from Jasper, was transported to Jasper Memorial hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released from the hospital.
The second passenger, a 17-year-old female from Orange, was transported to Jasper Memorial hospital with critical injuries. However, she did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Dr. Brown at approximately 2:36a.m.
No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
Since this is crash resulted in a death, a voluntary blood specimen was obtained from the driver, Jarvis Wilson.
All information is preliminary as Troopers work to determine the factor(s) that contributed to this fatal crash.
