The City Council in Bridge City had a brief meeting Tuesday. The council approved nominating Tim Schossow as the city’s candidate for the Board of Directors of the Orange County Appraisal District.
A new contract with the Bridge City Police Association was approved by the City Council during the meeting. The contract was previously approved by the union. The contract started Tuesday, October 1, and runs to September 30, 2020.
City Manager Jerry Jones had the details of the agreement. Added to the contract is a bilingual position with an increase in salary and a three percent raise for the police personnel the same as given to all of the other city employees. “Basically, it is the same contract,” Jones summarized.
Last month Mike Lund who had served as the superintendent of the Bridge City Water Department was named the new Public Works Director for the city. Lund said, “It’s nice to be given the opportunity to do something different. I’m looking forward to the challenge to help the city grow.” Lund indicated work on drainage in Bridge City will be a top priority for him in his new position.
