Orange City Manager Mike Kunst will be at his first city council meeting in his new position Tuesday.
Rollie Burr, longtime businessman and Vidor School board member, was named the interim city manager in Vidor.
Kunst started the job on October 1. Even though he did not hold the job, he has been attending council meetings during the past few months after applying for the job and then becoming a finalist.
Both men have faced adversity recently. Kunst was preparing for his new job in Orange when his home in Vidor was flooded by Tropical Storm Imelda. Burr is recovering from being bit by a copperhead snake on the hand in August.
The Orange agenda includes a first reading of an ordinance setting some traffic rules for residential streets near Free State Cellars winery on Willow Street. Some neighbors on Tejas Parkway, Evergreen Drive, Lakeshore Drive and Willow complained about business at the new winery, which opened in the summer at the former site of the Pine Woods Winery. The new rules will include 25 mph speed limit signs.
Also, the council will consider appointments and reappointments to some of the city boards.
The meeting will be at 9 a.m. in the council chambers next to the Orange Public Library.
