A Nederland woman on her way to work Monday morning died in a head-on crash on DuPont Drive.
Orange Police Captain Robert Enmon said the woman was 41-year-old Dana Barnes. She worked at Akrotex in Orange.
The collision was about 8 a.m. by the Adams Bayou Bridge near the Orange Boat Club. Captain Enmon said Barnes was driving a Nissan Versa. For an unknown reason, the car drifted over into the opposite lane and hit a Ford F350 head-on. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Enmon said the crash “appears to be an unfortunate accident.” He said no criminal investigation is being made and no traffic citations were issued.
Traffic on DuPont Drive was blocked in both directions after the crash.
